Schmersal develops and produces an extraordinary wide range of high-quality switchgears for the protection of machines and plants in industrial automation and lift industry.
In the "Safe Switching and Monitoring" section, you will find an extraordinary large programme of safety-related switchgears for the position monitoring of guard doors and the non-contact protection of hazardous zones and danger points, as well as safety switching appliances for special applications.
In the "Safe Signal Processing" section, you will find safety relay modules for various safety technology applications (e.g. for emergency stop and guard door monitoring) as well as centralised programmable safety controllers and decentralised field bus systems, e.g. a modular concept for safety functions control on small machines.
In the "Automation Technology" section, you will find switching appliances for the mechanical position detection in various fields of application as well as (safety) sensors with different operating principles; this section furthermore includes a comprehensive programme of command and signalling devices.
The "Ex Switchgear" includes switchgears, which can be used - in accordance with the harmonised standards - in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres due to the presence of gas and dust, e.g. position switches, safety switches and safety sensors with non-contact operating principle.
In the "Lift Switchgears" section, you will find lift switchgears for various applications in the shaft pit, the lift car and the machine room: floor and fine-adjustment switches, positive-break door contacts, position switches, magnetic reed switches, remote alarm systems as well as the USP ultrasonic elevator positioning system.

The PROTECT-SRB 211 safety-monitoring modules have stood the test as universally applicable series for safe signal evaluation in various applications. The Schmersal Group now presents a new generation of this series featuring enhanced functions and more comfort at a highly budget-friendly price; all of these features were made possible by standardisation.
Until now, each time a different safety-monitoring module had to be used for the signal evaluation of convention switchgear, magnetic safety switches and optoelectronic safety devices (AODP´s). With the new SRB 211 series, all three types of safety switchgear can be connected to the same safety-monitoring module.
This means that the diversity of variants to be produced by Schmersal is decreased. It is however the customer, who takes the final advantage: due to the standardisation, the new SRB 211 safety-monitoring modules from Elan - the Centre of Competence of the Schmersal Group for safety-monitoring modules and safety-related control systems - can be manufactured more cost-efficient - and this advantage is passed on the customer.
Standardisation however does not mean that the user no longer has the choice. The safety-monitoring modules are supplied in the variants ST (dual-channel control with two NC contacts), AN (antivalent; for NC/NO combinations) and LT (two NC contacts, with long-term time setting). Three wiring variants - either with plug-in or soldered screw terminals or plug-in cage clamps - are available.
The drop-out delay for the STOP 1 releases can be set within a few seconds through a DIP switch.
The safety functions of the new SRB 211 safety-monitoring modules with 22.5 mm enclosure for control cabinet fitting include a current and voltage limitation for the input circuits as well as a reset function with trailing edge.
The Schmersal Group will present the entire series of new PROTECT SRB 211 safety-monitoring modules at the Hannover Fair: Hall 9, Booth D 35.
