The latest safety sensor technology as an alternative to electromechanics. The AZ 16 is to many companies the safety switch par excellence: the Schmersal Group already has produced many millions of this series and the switch is still highly popular. Schmersal now presents a new safety sensor, which will help many users make the switch from electromechanical to non-contact guard door monitoring. Although the CSS 16 has the latest sensor technology inside, its basic measurements are exactly the same as those of the AZ 16 – with this particular difference that in the CSS devices the mechanical actuator is replaced by a compact target. more

Standard in higher design quality instead of “do-it-yourself”. Every safety guard of a machine or plant is, besides a safety switching system, equipped with a control panel, by means of which the operator can at least activate the emergency stop, on/off and reset functions. Usually, these control panels are manufactured by the machine builder according to the “do-it-yourself” principle. Especially for small quantities or in companies with their own auxiliary equipment production department, which only manufacture small series, this is a highly uneconomical operation, which does not always produce the desired result from the technical or aesthetical point of view. more

This solution is based upon the modular system of the AZM 200 solenoid interlock, which uses an innovative, Schmersal-patented operating principle for the non-contact detection of the interlock status and the safety guard position. more

The MZM 100 is a solenoid interlock with non-contact operating principle, in which the locking force of 500 N is electromagnetically generated. The absence of a mechanical locking offers for instance the advantage that the magnetic interlock can be smoothly integrated in the surrounding construction and that no annoying rattling is produced on vibrating machines. For the non safety-related latching, which is required to keep the door closed, this electromagnet is used as well. more

The safety sensors with non-contact operating principle also are available in versions with coded magnets, in which the sensor for instance does not react onto conventional magnets. And for the CSS technology developed from Schmersal, a version is now available, in which the sensor and the target have a paired coding. more

With the foundation of Safety Control GmbH, the Schmersal Group has considerably extended its program in this field of machine safety. In addition to the universally applicable safety light grids and curtains of the SLC/SLG 220 and 420 series (type 2 or 4 to IEC/EN 61 496), the devices were presented in special designs, e.g. the world’s most compact safety light curtain of the world with control category 4 / type 4 to IEC/ EN 61496 at the Hanover Fair 2009. more

The Schmersal Group extends its programme of optoelectronic safety guards through the acquisition of Safety Control GmbH and Safety Protec GmbH, located at Mühldorf/ Inn. These companies, which will trade under the name of Schmersal Safety Control GmbH from now on, will become the Centre of Competence for optoelectronic safety switchgear of the company group. more
