The Schmersal Group has become a member of the "European Hygienic Design & Engineering Group" (EHEDG). The EHEDG's aim is to draft practical guidelines on the subject of "Hygienic Design" and certify hygiene-compliant components. The organisation's network is made up of more than 1000 experts from the food industry, mechanical and plant engineering and science and institutions - and now also the Schmersal Group.
As a manufacturer of safety switchgear and command and control devices, Schmersal has numerous products in its range which were developed explicitly for the food industry and other hygiene-sensitive applications. These include, for example, hygiene-compliant control and command devices, cross switches and sensors, warning lights, rotary transducers, safety sensors and safety locks which can be used in food and butchery machines.
Schmersal expects the membership to bring more intense exchange with industry experts. Siegfried Rüttger, Packaging Industry Manager for K.A. Schmersal GmbH & Co. KG: "The food industry is among our most important target branches. We are expecting further growth here and pursuing other technological developments which are suitable for use in the hygiene areas of food machines. So the EHEDG is a very logical forum for us. We will also play an active role in the EHEDG and contribute our core expertise in the field of functional safety - e.g. securing risk areas. www.ehedg.org
