Schmersal wins Wuppertal Business Prize

Machine safety specialist is “Company of the Year 2017”

The Schmersal Group yesterday received the Wuppertal Business Prize at a glittering prize-giving event in the Glass Hall of the Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal. The Wuppertal Business Prize, which has been awarded since 2003, is among the most prestigious prizes given out by the city and was awarded by Wuppertal Marketing GmbH in conjunction with patron Lord Mayor Andreas Mucke. The jury’s commendation explained that the Schmersal Group’s decades of success was primarily down to its ability to identify industry trends and requirements at an early stage and develop reliable, specialist products to meet these needs.” In his speech, Gunther Wölfges, Chairman of the Board of the Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal, also cited the company’s active commitment to the city and its people, by which it plays a role in shaping life in Wuppertal. “This award makes me really proud. It also shows that we as a company are on the right track. We will continue to put all our energy into maintaining and expanding on our position as one of the leading providers of high-quality technical safety systems,” explained Philip Schmersal, Managing Director & Shareholder, at the awards ceremony. “We see the Business Prize as a recognition of our work and a confirmation that our decision to keep our company headquarters in Wuppertal despite our increasingly international direction was the right one.”  A video portrait of prize winner Schmersal is available under this link
