In its role as a new member of the ‘Zukunftsallianz Maschinenbau’, Schmersal hosted the 4th innovation dialogue of the mechanical engineers’ network yesterday in the premises of the tec.nicum. About 70 participants from the fields of business and science exchanged their thoughts on success strategies in digital era. Managing Director Michael Mandel introduced the host company and related its 70 year-long success story of Schmersal. During his presentation, Chief Sales Officer Oscar Arias outlined the path towards becoming a system and solution provider.  Following presentations also focussed on shaping the future: Jan Mispagel representing Kienbaum Consultants, Zürich pointed out why forecasting cannot be an appropriate device for strategy development. Dr. Alexander Fink, a scenario management specialist, presented new techniques for developing inventive business models. Planning and implementation of innovation projects was the topic of the following presentations, held by various experts, including those from the Fraunhofer Institutes. It was overall an engaging yet challenging discussion with a high utility value - one may look forward to the continuation of this series by the network of mechanical engineers.
