A lift to the Cloud

Schmersal Böhnke + Partner to showcase a dynamic online solution for lift systems at interlift 2017

Bergisch Gladbach, 9 August 2017. Schmersal Böhnke + Partner, one of the world’s leading system suppliers for the lift industry, is set to showcase its first ever Cloud solution at this year's interlift event.  Schmersal's lift control units can now transfer data and status information for lift systems via a gateway into the Cloud. To do this, they use a non-proprietary software solution. This means that data is displayed on a standard browser and made accessible to the user via a secure VPN connection. The data are hosted on an EU-based server. As a result, lift operators receive location-independent access to all lift systems over the Internet using an interface designed especially for the lift application.  For example, they can use their tablets, smartphones or PCs to gain access to an array of data in real time, including the door status, information on unscheduled stops and faults, etc. As a result, errors can be rectified within a shorter space of time and emergency services can be deployed more quickly. Furthermore, the Cloud solution provides access to a range of statistical data, including a trip counter, total operating hours, temperature, etc. These data can be used for preventive maintenance and offer increased flexibility when planning the mobile deployment of service teams – this enables users to bring Industry 4.0 concepts for lifts to life.
